PawsePawse

Built by cat people, for cat people

Pawse started with a simple question: why is it so hard to give indoor cats the enrichment they need? We couldn't find a good answer — so we built one.

The story behind Pawse

We were a small group of cat owners who heard the same advice from every vet: “Just play with them more.” But between work calls, school pickups, and multi-cat dynamics, “more” felt impossibly vague.

We tried generic pet games on tablets. Most were designed like arcade games — flashy, overstimulating, and with no concept of pacing or cooldowns. Cats would either lose interest in seconds or get so wound up they'd swipe the device off the table.

So we went back to basics. We studied feline play research, talked to shelter staff and behaviorists, and built an app that respects how cats actually play: in short, focused bursts with natural rest periods. The result is Pawse — enrichment that fits real life.

What we believe

We believe every cat deserves daily enrichment — and every owner deserves tools that make it easy, not stressful. Play shouldn't come with guilt trips, streak anxiety, or complicated dashboards.

We believe in supervised, device-safe play. Pawse is designed to be used with your cat, not as a replacement for your attention. Every feature includes safety guidance built in.

We believe in meeting people where they are. Whether you have one senior cat or a foster rotation of kittens, whether you have 10 minutes or 3 — Pawse adapts to your reality.

Our principles

These aren't just values on a wall. They shape every feature, every screen, and every word in Pawse.

Calm

We reduce stress for owners and cats. No flashing badges, no urgent interruptions — just steady, safe play.

Practical

Every feature focuses on actions you can take in under a minute. Start a session, see one insight, adjust one setting.

Clear

Plain labels, simple charts, and direct guidance. If a setting changes something, we show you exactly what.

Warm

Caring and supportive, never guilt-driven. We acknowledge your time constraints and celebrate small wins.

How we design

Make the next best action obvious

Every screen presents one primary choice. No hunting through menus or wondering what to do next.

Design for interruptions

Life happens. Pawse supports pausing, resuming, and 'do it later' without penalty or lost progress.

Explain cause and effect

When you change a setting, you see the result immediately. Slower motion, shorter bursts, gentler pacing — it's always clear.

Validate with real-world context

We test with multi-cat households, time-pressed owners, and shelter staff. Features work in real homes, not just demos.
